Mr. Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh, 51, is the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of Industry as of May 12, 2011.
He holds a Bachelor in Economic and Social Administration with a specialization in Business Managementfrom the University François Rabelais of Tours, France, and a Master (DEA) in Marketing and Strategic Management.
In 1992, he served as the head department in charge of the private sector within the Direction of Planning.
He is one of the drafters of the Five-year plan Guidance Act.
In 1993, he’s recruited at Djibouti International Port where he served as Project Leader.He is appointed Chief Operating Officer at the Port of Djibouti in 1996 until 2004.
During his time at PAID, he took professional training like the IPPP (Public-Private Partnership Institute) in Washington DC, Le Havre Port Institute (France) and the IMO (International Maritime Organization) in London.
Mr.Dawaleh engages in the private sector. He served as a director of corporations and not for profit boards, including Chairman of the Board and Board of Trustees of several non-profit organizations. He is also the co-founding chairperson of RDE, Djibouti’s Young Entrepreneurs’ Club. CEO of several companies he founded in Djibouti and abroad, Mr. Dawaleh is known for his entrepreneurship and leadership qualities.
Minister Ilyas speaks fluently English, Arabic and French.
